desert rose
dissolving
rugged desert rose
hardened through survival
periwinkle nonetheless
blooming
inside the void
no facets
in here
I feel
inane
insurgent imperishable
roots dig in
sear ground
absorbing
lush vigor
remaining steady
fragile drifting
without belonging
I’m disconnected
strong trunks
adapted smoothly
to the rough peripheral
of drought
of deficit
growing
drained
I’m losing
my outlines
dissolving
shaping
iridescent blossoms
contradict bias
a gentle breeze
softly sweeps
delicate petals
I’m stuck
muted
behind a facade
of extroversion
spirals of
emerald flowers
expanding to the
steel blue sky
soaking in
glistening dips
of sunlight
rupture
the porous haze
-
I will
-
bloom
in succulence
-
against
all odds

I love these photos so much. This was wonderful to read. It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to start reading other’s writing again so this was a treat. Really strong writing, too. Thank you wildflower!
Ethereal words for a rainy Sunday 🖤
